Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL uses light to target and address various skin concerns such as pigmentation, redness, and signs of aging. The light energy penetrates the skin and is absorbed by specific chromophores—pigment (melanin) in age spots or blood vessels (hemoglobin) in redness. This absorption triggers a healing response, leading to improvements in skin tone and texture.
During Treatment:
Your skin will be cleansed, and a cooling gel will be applied to help protect and soothe the skin. Treatment involves brief pulses of light that may feel like a series of small, quick snaps or a rubber band being snapped against your skin. Some areas might feel slightly more intense than others.
After treatment:
You might experience some redness, swelling, or a sensation similar to mild sunburn in the treated area. This typically subsides within a few hours to a few days. Dark spots or pigmentation may initially appear darker before flaking off or fading over the following weeks. In some cases, these spots can appear to be darker before they improve.
